But 40Ah at 48V is same as 80Ah at 24V. And it brings efficiency advantages too. All wins! So does brushless...

I agree, it would be better to have a less crappy chair, but this one does work reasonably well for the uses I have, and the things I do...

As an interesting aside, my friend Erik Kondo has been doing some amazing stuff with making low budget home-made manual chairs... His latest is mostly all PVC plumbing for the frame and some panels for the seat and clothing guards... He has also done ones out of plywood, and a few other materials... Says the weight is not a lot worse than the 'ultra-lights' and the ability to build a chair for cheap means you can have a bunch of different chairs tailored for different uses...

What he has found to be the big 'secret ingredient' is to make what amounts to a box version of a camber tube... A couple of short (~3-4") lengths of perforated square steel tube, basically 3 holes worth, sandwiched between two boards, drilling out the middle pair of holes on the sides to fit either just a QR axle, or the receiver for one...

He gets the wheels, casters, brakes, and other 'chair specific' parts from China, and has even set up an eBay 'store' to order them... Website https://www.opensourcewheelchairs.org

I may develop a minor side hustle making a few of the parts that are easier w/ a shop instead of just hand tools...
