For front tires what's better slicks ot tread?

I need to order new front tires for my rear wheel drive Bounder The tires.that came with it have tread, but I don't really see a benefit to having tread on the front tires. I do a lot of off-roading. What's better for front tires slicks or tread?

There is no benefit to treaded tyres on a caster. The thing is meant to go where it is pushed in any direction. The perfect caster would be a hover wheel...
