Does anyone have a photo of their Permobil F3 chair with the Q straint bracket attached to the bottom? I'm just trying to get an idea of its location on the chair and what kind of clearance I will have with it.

Inch tape measure

The only Q straint I have is the ratcheting straps, not the QLK https://www.qstraint.com/pdf/brochures/ ... KM4800.pdf. But I figured not many people have their batteries out and able to flip it over and take a pic. Hopefully this will give you an idea of where everything is. The line of scratches are where it bottoms out when going down over an American curb. The 5 small holes in the center are for mounting a Dahl Engineering plate https://dahlengineering.dk/media/275305 ... _plate.pdf
The 2 larger holes are for a Permolock C3 as far as I know https://www.manualslib.com/manual/12313 ... ck-C3.html

It's funny that they don't come prepared for the QLK, well maybe some more modern ones are, I have to check if mine is also like that even though it's older.

They don't need to come prepared. The q straint bracket uses existing holes on the chassis.

Ok thanks Rover then I guess it uses a plate with a thick screw, I have never seen what it looks like.

I don't believe that the QLK bracket for the bottom of a Permobil F3 fits into holes already on the bottom of the chair. The guy that I have work on my van and set all that up says that it requires him to drill new holes in the bottom of the chair. I would like to just see a picture of an F3 with the bracket already attached so I can get an idea of it's exact position and what kind of ground clearance will be remaining.

Rover,
Does the QLK attach to the 5 small holes in the middle, the 2 large holes closer to the sides, or some other existing holes? The QLK link I found doesn't show the chair side at all or describe it.

Is there maybe a specific part number that should be used on permobil but people are using a universal part instead that doesn't fit as well? I've also heard from QLK dealer (United Access) that it requires drilling holes in the F3. I believe you over them, I'm just curious how that info gets spread.

The "approved" bracket is listed as Q04BR123
A drawing is shown here which does not look like a bolt on affair.

Used the 2 countersunk holes nearer the edge and also has two plates that attach to the sides of the chassis. Instructions are available on the Q'STRAINT site.

My knowledge is about the F5 rather than the F3. I acknowledge that the F3 application could be different.

I have a Q'straint Q04BR122 bracket, which I use with an EZ Lock locking base. The Q04BR122 mounts on my F5 wheelchair without drilling any new holes.

I use the Q'straint bracket because it positions the locking bolt closer to the line between the drive wheels, which makes it catch on obstacles a whole lot less than the EZ Lock plate would.

Note that Q'straint uses different brackets for different applications. There is one for use when the wheelchair is moved forward into the lock and a different one when the wheelchair is moved backward into the lock.

According to Q'straint's website, there are two brackets for the F3.

Q04BR123 is used for applications where you move forward into the QLK lock

Q04BR122 is used for applications where you move backwards into the QLK lock.

These are the same two brackets used on the F5, according to Q'straint's website.

Also note that there are 3 version of the F5. The original version, the "facelift" version introduced around 2019, and the Power Platform version (I got mine in 2024).

I have had all 3 version of the F5, but only mounted a Q'straint bracket on the original version of the F5.

Isn’t the stabilizer mechanism different between ez lock and qlk? Or do you not have one and just use the bolt? I know they recommend/require it for driving from your chair

I don't know about "official" brackets, but my experience is that the place I used basically had to fab a bracket somewhat custom as a lot depends on the exact chair configuration (i.e. foot rests or platforms, height they are set at, etc.) as to just what they can latch onto for in the way of an anti-tip... (of course then I come along and further modify the setup to meet my needs... cheers )

Ditto. 16mm bolt. DIY bracket. 6 chairs, all different!
