Possible alternative for the Hirose plug?

Postby Kansha-9 » 25 Feb 2026, 22:29

Hello,

I'm in the process of making a diy programming cable for an Invacare ACS Dynamic controller. It has a proprietary 5-pin mini-din connector made by Hirose if I have understood correctly.
I found an 8-pin mini-DIN plug on eBay that seems to have a symmetric alignment on the middle row of pins. It should be able to fit after removing the bottom row of three pins. Although contrary to the photos the drawing in the listing shows the middle pin is offset to one side. I ordered some to see which illustration is correct.
Has anyone experience with these? I'll post my results when the plugs arrive.

Here's the link to the listing:

best regards,
Harri

I made one with 5 seperate connectors on single wires. And superglue...

Easy enough.

But needs filing, and a tiny bit of bending pins to perfectly like up. A bit fideley.
