Heat-shrink sleeve

The ideal way to place a heat shrink sleeve is to use a heat gun.
Does anyone know if it is feasible to do it with a hair dryer?

Different heat from different hair driers.

I have used them, but had to get more heat by holding hand partly over the air intake so it gets hotter. But generally I just use a lighter. On small sizes, the soldering iron quickly is enough so you dont melt it. (move it around, or use the middle fatter part..).

Lighters blacken the plastic...
...and they can burn it.

No. If the flame is blue, no soot. If its a decent lighter. And yes if you go mental and too close it will burn it But you hold it so the heat hits it and watch it shrink. Not too close! Then stop before you burn the house down. I do this all the time. Super neat, nothing black, nothing melted, nothing burned. :clap
