Why?

My freind is into movies, movie editing.
His PC has 10 of the 12TB NAS external hard disks, and 2 of 4TB nvme SSDs for the operating system to edit movies. And its required...

I dont do movies, there are non here on my PC other than a few short clips.
But my camera can. So I could! It writes data to both its 1TB and it 2TB cards at rediculous speeds.

An example.
8K raw movies FILL a fast 2TB memory card in 37 mins. And the card has a heat warning! It can burn you.
I think you are living in 1970!

Here are just 2 (of my 4) fast memory cards used in my camera at once. Takes 2 cards. So can do around 45 mins of raw video (3TB in camera) at high quality.

Note that the WRITE speeds are almost 2GB per second garanteed minimum. Because thats needed by this camera.

Heres another, a 1TB SD card - not fast enough for 8k raw movies, but fine for thousands of raw 220MB 45mp photos... Or raw 4K movies.
Its write speed is limited to 270MB per second. But the camera has a large built in buffer too.

This Nikon Z8 camera can do 20 or 30 up to 120 frames or shots per second at max speed. And focus each individual shot between frames! So that birds eyeball will always be pin sharp in flight for e.g.

You need fast and large cards.

Depends how you look at it.
Just over 2.5 million actually.

Or:
5 files - only 37 minute long movies from my camera - is already 10 TB just on its own.
But I dont use it for that fortunately. But some people do.

And thats without starting to edit them, copy, or without an operating system, software etc.

So its soon used! Because its so much data the dives must be fast. 4 to 6 GB per second.

I have 460GB of software.
And 600GB photos.
400GB Work.
MS Flight sim is 450GB on its own!
Several backus of all this...

Question.
How much storage on your computer?
All my laptops now have 4TB SSDs. And a 1 or 2 TB Memory card as a 2nd drive. So 5 or 6TB each.
My PC has 11TB at the moment. But will soon get a couple of additional 4TB SSD adding. As I only have 1.5TB left. So will be 19TB.
