Sad news to share

Postby LROBBINS » 03 Jan 2025, 18:39

For several weeks I've been unable to reach Mike Stewart (of Lebanon, Ohio) who, though we've only rarely met in person, has been a best friend for me and for Rachi. A master programmer, he really was a substantial help in developing Rachi's voice output and computer control system and helped me over the rough spots as I designed the CANbus/Roboteq wheelchair control system. Eventually I contacted the the Warren County, OH sheriff's office and after checking utility and post office records and contacting Mike's neighbors they broke into his home and found that he had died.

In Judaism, we say "may his memory be a blessing" and indeed that's the case. This is a personal loss for us, but also a loss for anyone with a disability as he was an astounding example of generosity and clear and practical thinking.

May his memory be a blessing.

Sorry for your lose Lenny. It's tough to lose a great friend. After moving into the assisted living I made friends with a 90 year old jewish lawyer from chicago. We watched the cubs win the world series together in 2016. Then he passed. Soon after a retired P51 pilot started sitting at the same table for dinner and we always had good conversations. Then he passed. Now I don't really hang with anyone because I know they will probably leave soon too. It's a terrible attitude for me to have. But that's my solution to avoiding this kind of future sadness. Hopefully the good memories of Mike will soon outshine the darkness of his passing.
