Antenna tuning

RC in this case. 2.4ghz receiver antennas are just bits of wire.

This one has a copper balun or a tube, so is now a true dipole and its better than the common monopole ones that dont... Because I throw all those types away.

But all of them are the wrong lenght cut using a ruler by a girl in a factory. These things may be tuned to anywhere from 2.2 to 2.6ghz.
Is that an issue? Well it reduces range some. And it wastes the technology. Its like having a hose pipe that has a hole init wasting some of he water.

So a pair of scissors and VERY careful trimming by a fraction of a mm at a time until the lowests frequency we need 2400mhz, and the highst 2490mhz is approx equal. And the centre frequency 2459mhz.

You need a Vector Analiser to do this.

Is such a tiny antenna functional?

The size of an antenna depends on its intended frequency. At 2.45ghz (same as wifi) this tiny antenna is a half wave dipole and perfectly tuned.

So yes. It allows me to have many 10s of kilometers range.
