I would say very easy. But where will you mount a monitor?

Exatctly the same as ftting one to a 24v vehicle.

Here is an example of one that is advertiser as being for a Permobil wheelchair. It looks like the monitor has a mount that would work with any armrest that has something like Permobil's unitrack system (slots on the underside of the armrest).

I have bought quite a few things from this seller over the years and have grown to trust them. I have no idea how good the product is, though.

The camera side is trivial - lots of kits for retrofitting cameras to cars are available, and the camera sensors are tiny, not much bigger than the cameras on a phone.

The problem is the monitor side - it would be really cool if the control system allowed one to put the camera out on the joystick screen, but our locked down, closed hardware systems don't allow that... This means that you need to have to mount a second monitor somewhere that is likely to be in the way when not in use... There may also be ways to do something that connects to a phone - perhaps look for "spy cameras"? I think I've seen ones marketed for monitoring children / pets / hired help that are pretty small and broadcast to either the phone via WiFi/Bluetooth or to a website that can relay it...

Another question is how to control the camera - in a car it's easy, turn on when you go into reverse gear... Not so easy on a chair where one motor might go into reverse (i.e. turning in place) w/o the user intending to back up... Possibly only turn on if BOTH motors are running backwards? And again, how does one tap into the motor signals to trigger the camera?

I'm playing around with one of these today https://www.amazon.com/KEMIMOTO-Univers ... B0DF6ZLVKM
I haven't found a great way to mount it yet, but wherever I put it in front of me, I can rotate the side mirrors to let me see both wheels. If I turn them outward, I can see to the side or even slightly forward of the side. To see car doors or shop doors being flung open near me, whether I will make it past a doorway, or if the back of my chair is about to knock something over in a turn.

Its not a camera, but if I were to mount a forward facing camera at my headrest mount, it would capture my path ahead and all of these mirrors in the image as well, including all the changed angles, without moving the camera. I think it might serve the original purpose.

With rear drive having something hanging and swinging around behind you doesent happen. I already know where all my chair is and can see everthing except directy behind.

So a camera woudnt be much use unless it was capable of seeing in the dark like my front door cam. With wide lens. It manages to makes night look like day and in colour. So I would know who/what is coming up behind me in a dark places. If this could display ON the joystick sceen, so not in my way then it would be worth having.

I think this may be for Slomobile's prone chair.

Yes. But I was thinking about the rest of us.

Seeing directly behind, on a dark street or someplace at night would be advantagous. Since most rehab chairs already have a screen showing nothing important that is always on regardless, then adding a tiny 1 inch cube cam into the headrest or seat back would seem like a trivial bit ofadditional cost/work but be something actually useful! Those cameras can cost the price of a pint. The rest already exists!

I think it's a good idea to have a reversing camera if the screen can be mounted out of harms way, I would just switch it on when I'm moving about so I don't reverse over my cats or flatten someone's toes in a pub. Fortunately my right leg is amputated above knee so a small monitor can be mounted on end of seat rail where my leg would usually be. I'm not keen on wireless, wired versions are awkward to route cables so they don't snag when using tilt/rise functions.

I didn't want to spend a lot to prove the concept, if it works I may invest in a better system. This is what I bought to try the idea out (even though I only need one camera) it doesn't draw much power

Whilst it can play back stuff it doesent say it can be used as a live view? Although it likely can.

Indeed it doesn't!! I assumed but didn't check duh hanged

Reading through the instructions it doesn't mention anything other than recording and playback, I've messaged seller for clarification.

Thanks for spotting my mistake

I am OCD whn t comes to details and possible issues. Because the details really are the difference between success and failure in practically everything in life.

And most people do not do details...
