Permolock c

Does anyone here have a permolock c installed and use a permobil F5 corpus VS chair? I ask because I don't know if they are compatible.

I think an F5 would require the Permolock C3 with 2 pins rather than the single center pin. https://www.motusmedical.co.uk/wp-conte ... ock_C3.jpg

Surely it is as you say slomobile, the permolock c must be for older chairs

Unfortunately, Permobil disconnected their locks several years ago. Any of their newer chairs will not be compatible.

the system was not badly thought out in the c300 chairs, the c500 was installed with an electric retractable bolt so you didn't trip anywhere, perhaps as slomobile says the permolock c3 could work, although I haven't found anywhere that says which chairs it is compatible with.

I used the dual spring loaded pin version with my M300. Never got caught up on thresholds, hoses, ropes, rocks, roots, anything, unlike the fixed EZ lock / qstraint pin.

I believe Permobil only offered it when ordering a new chair. They wouldn't retrofit existing chairs.

I was looking at the Magic Mobility Magic 360 power chair because they had a retractable pin as an option. Unfortunately, when ezlock crash tested the chair, it failed. They even crash tested with one of their brackets and it also failed. They no longer offer the retractable pin as an option for that chair.

I had to cancel my wheelchair order and went with a M3.

A lot depends on the bolt being as aligned as possible with the axis of the wheels since that way it is more difficult to trip over any obstacle.

The Dahl locking system looks promising. They don't sell to the USA yet, so I haven't compared ground clearances yet.

I saw a video of EZlock's Magic 360 crash test. The copy I saw was very low resolution so it was difficult for me to see what the point of failure was. It looked like the pin stayed intact. I think the top of the locking base may have deformed allowing the pin to slide out of the slot, above the internal locking mechanism. But as I said, I didn't see a good copy of the video so I could be completely wrong.

Using a plate, instead of a single bolt, seems like a good idea. It would distribute the loads on both the wheelchair bracket and the locking base. It would also act as the stabilizer to prevent the chair rocking fore/aft, side to side, and rotating.

The only downside that I could see would be a zipper effect, where the multiple smaller bolts don't load evenly. For example in a crash, all bolts should get the same shear force, but the torque caused by the chair would initially put the rear bolts under more tension than the front bolts. The back pair of bolts would fail first, then the next pair, then the next, etc.

Yes, the Dahl system also seems like a good idea to me, the surface of the hitch is wider, I don't know how much it can hinder when overcoming an obstacle, I wouldn't worry about the screws but well, that's what the stress tests are for, there is no doubt.
