Thought you might like this guy, has some good videos, and designs. A manufacturer even asked him to fly a prototype of their design.

3d printed planes. I never tried that. No 3d printer. But it looks fun if a little bit heavy flying for my liking.

Any. But I really like either large complex high performance FPV sailplanes. Or gas turbine deltas. Its what I did in the past.

So small plastic underpowered weak 3d printed are OK for a bit of park flyer fun but will never be serious.

For e.g.

But RC speed is something I did a lot of. Pulse jet power, or gas turbines in pure delta flying wings.

Or even electric power in gliders like this. Lithium, brushless. Carbon fibre for strenght. These sorts of things are pretty common now.

This is an aerobatic Carbon fibre glider. With a little power added... Quite easy to fly but very fast. Start at 2.00 mins...

At the opposite extreme I do have one of these!

With normal pusher prop - not his fans.

For the park!

It all depends. I have no trouble, and fly quads, very fast planes, 3d helis. But I have very good hand eye coordination and was doing this since I was 11... And now 64. Flying stuff and building/understanding it all inc designing jets etc, even building gas turbines and pulse jets before these things were buyable, from scratch was what I did for 53 years!

So the skills you can learn. The flying skills you can even learn on a flight sim. Inc quads. And the hand/eye coordination is down to genetics and injury.

Things like the DJI quads, dont need any skills at all. All gyros and self stable. Auto flight. Auto return to home. And auto land. And even auto avoid all objects on their own pretty much. They have 360 degrees eyes!

So a DJI 4 MINI for e,g doesent need any special training, licences etc and is below the 250g limit for flying over towns, people etc. too. Does 4k video. So start there! You can fly that with 1 finger.
