Hi. Tell me, does anyone know what such devices for machine tools are called in America?

Google machinist hold down clamps. You will see a variety of options going by a variety of names.

In order on your first post:

Fixture plate (T-slot type)
Strap clamps
90 and 45 degree fixture plates (T-slot type)

T slots are typically 5/8" sized on American milling machines. That is the width of the slot the T shaped nut slides into and are threaded for a 1/2-13 bolt. They are available in hundreds of different configurations and different proprietary names from different manufacturers. I use them along with 123 blocks often.

123 blocks are precision ground fixtures that measure 1x2x3 inches. 456 blocks are also common. I don't use them because they're too heavy for me to use easily.

I would post some pictures I have taken of setups I have done but something is broken on the forum or my settings or permissions. I cannot embed photos. I get the attached error. I tried literally copying the example showing how and it gives the same error.

Here's a video of what it looks like. It's convenient for assembling various universal matrices (for welding, drilling, milling).
I wanted to know if such devices are available in the US.

They are very available here. Although, most cheaper versions are made in China. There are still some USA companies that make different fixtures. Quite expensive though.

There used to be many small machine shops here where you would see hundreds of different fixturing setups hanging up. Not as common now. There's just not as many.

Yep. VERY common from many places. I use three different places that will sell small quantities to individuals within a 40 minute drive of my house, and I live farther from the city than anyone I know. We typically buy sheets in fractional sizes - 1/8, 1/4, 3/4 inch, etc and gauge sizes below 1/8 inch though. The most common standard length x width is 4x8 feet (48x96 inches). I just bought some, had it laser cut, and shipped to my house for cheaper than I could have machined it myself when you consider my time and tooling, not to mention the difficulty handling the material. Cutting out 2d flat parts is hard on tooling and slow with a CNC milling machine. I don't have a laser, plasma, or waterjet.

Metric sizes are available but not common - as far as I know.

Well they are pretty much the most common sizes everywhere else in the world!

What features differentiate a fixture plate from a "tombstone"? Tombstones as I understand it are rigid base plates that a workpiece is setup on outside of a busy mill. Several tombstones can be swapped into and out of the mill (either manually or automated) to achieve continuous production.
Was wondering if the cross feature on the ends in the first picture might be for repeatably aligning the tombstone onto a mating fixture bolted to the mill table.

Nothing specifically sets them apart, at least that I'm aware of. We typically refer to one as a tombstone on a horizontal mill that multiple fixtures, parts, or setups are mounted to. We don't usually use the same types of setups on a vertical 3 axis mill since you can't easily reach anything but the top.

Nothing says this terminology is correct.
