Or, it doesn't actually release after having been pressed, so the next press, or even unplugging and re-plugging to the AC, oes nothing at all.

Maybe some members are not clear about how to adjust ZXD2400.

① When the blue cursor is NOT blinking, you can simply press it once to switch output ON /OFF.

② Turn to scroll and press to select before cursor goes away. Adjust and press again to execute.

③ Turn to select and press 2 seconds, now your adjustment is executed immediately, and will stay on this mode forever.
Press to exit.

The button clicks and allows to configure the power supply.
The button does not allow to turn off the power supply.

The PSU is from the first versions.
Should I be able to turn off the PSU from the button?

Yes.

Slide a bit of paper behind the button. Press and hold it. Is the paper trapped? If so then the button is pushed too far onto the shaft. So it doesent work.

I've been using my ZXD2400 NEW VERSION for a little over a week. I really like how easy it is to adjust the settings, as well as how quiet this version is. My chair's batteries are MK gel about 3 months old. Prior to the new version, I charged the chair with the old ZXD as a two stage charger.

On the new ZXD,set to 10A for bulk via XLR, I started with the transition set to 0.4A to kick over to float.(28.20V to 27.20V) I lowered the transition current setting to 0.3A and now 0.2A. If I've been relatively inactive, the current falls away pretty quickly, and trips over to float well before 8hrs on CV. I have the float timer set to 5hrs, though I don't wait for it to finish when getting in the chair in the morning.

All good! If theres no hurry, and you have a few hours spare then you can just set it to 0.4A and let float finish the charge. Its kinder but takes a few hours longer on float to end up full.

New version is a more rounded easier to use product.

How do you get it to go in PSU mode instead of 3 stage lead acid?

It should be enabled. Just set that like you do all the others on the main colour setting screen at the very top.

3 choices.
LITHIUM
LEAD (3 STAGE)
POWER SUPPLY.

I asked for it to be set up for lead acid, and shirley did just that! But my PSU I was using for my PL8 (a 24v server supply) died. And my old version ZXD is noisy.

I'm nervous about going into the menu on the new ZXD .....

Why?
Its foolproof.

You can enable that supply or lithium mode easily.

Its designed to be adjusted by you.

If you dont know what it all does I posted a list! Choose the ones you want in this list. Same way you choose things in the usual screen. In RED:

USER MENU
More info.

a) output or input WATTS.
b) output VOLTS (any limit from 1 to 60V)
c) output AMPS (any from a fraction of an amp to 50A)
d) password the settings lock
e) remove any of the POWER SUPPLY or LITHIUM CHARGE or LEAD CHARGE choice.
f) calibrate voltage or current (to fine tune)
g) set fans to OFF at low power so silent if charging low power or on float.
h) set it to AUTO TURN ON when plugged in.
i) set it to AUTO START when turned on. (so if settings are locked and passworded a carer cannot get wrong! As no response from knob etc.
f) lots more!

All levels are 0000...
Dont be scared of it, these settings are there for you!
If you dont understand any, ask me!

See below. Just 3 toggle "switches" to enable or disable.

Thats it!

Good news: I got into the FACTORY mode and enabled DC PowerMode

Bad news: I already had my PL8 connected to the ZXD when I switched it to PSU mode ... which was set to 60V. One loud 'pop' from the PL8 later and I killed it. I then realized my mistake.

I went back into the settings and limited the voltage to 29.8V. I have to get my backup PL8 out which needs an Anderson connector cause its EC5 connector it came with melted in the past. I just hadn't gotten around to replacing it with the Anderson yet.

Anyone have an extra PL8 they are willing to sell?

With great power comes great responsibility...

Open the PL8 and look carefully. May just be a capacitor exploded.

Or a transistor.

As my freind used to say, a transistor is the fastest fuse on 3 legs.

Took apart the toasted PL8. There are two 40A blade fuses on the input side that are soldered to the main PCB. One of them blew. Hard to see in this pic

Well I see burning and a blurry pad or something with soot near the base of a fuse. So I dont know...
Replace blown fuse see it it works.

This is a clear pic.
This is focussed on the rim of the coke can next to my bed.
Click it a few times as its a big image!

This is what I need to really see whats happening there!

For now, I snipped off the melted EC5 on a PL8 I have and replaced it with an Anderson. Works great. So at least I have a PL8 that's working now.

Dont know why they ever used those things. They always melt on helis and stuff too.

Around here the XT60 and XT90 are popular, they dont melt. This is for hobby use but Andersons better where size/weight and limited number of insertions are a problem. She said.

Make yourself a 4-wires alligator charge leads, and enable the 4-wires output mode.

Now you can charge / balance your cells at 50A max. Super useful with initial cell balancing when you put them together.

Yes charge single cells with ZXD directly. Because 50A! And its voltage is accurate. You dont even need those 4 wire connections! Its good anyway.

Worst it ever gets is 1 hundredth of a volt out! Tested two ZXDs. As I have 2.
